bKash Sponsors Scholarships for BRAC Midwifery Students
To support financially underprivileged yet meritorious students and develop trained professionals in midwifery, bKash is providing scholarships for 20 students enrolled in BRAC University’s James P. Grant School of Public Health Midwifery Education Program. Under this initiative, the country’s leading mobile financial services provider will cover tuition fees for two batches, with 10 students in each batch, for a total duration of six years.
bKash has joined BRAC University’s initiative to expand midwifery education and promote safe maternal healthcare services. A formal agreement was signed on Tuesday (December 17) at the Adabor Campus in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The agreement was signed by bKash’s Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer, Major General Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam (Retd.), and Dr. Laura Reichenbach, Dean of BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University.
bKash’s EVP and Head of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Humayun Kabir, Vice President Saima Ahsan, Founding Dean of BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health and Bangladesh Health Watch Convener Ahmed Mushtaque Raja Chowdhury, Midwifery Education Program Director Dr. Sharmina Rahman, Advisor Dr. Shehlina Ahmed, and senior officials from both organizations were also present at the event.
bKash, committed to enhancing quality education and supporting underserved communities, has launched this scholarship program for students who have completed higher secondary education and enrolled in the Midwifery Diploma Course.
Since 2013, BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health has been running its Midwifery Diploma Education Program to create skilled midwives. So far, 1,253 licensed midwife graduates have contributed to improving the country’s healthcare sector.
